Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to express my strong interest in an IT Operations Support Manager position. With more than 25 years of leadership in mission-critical data center operations, IT support, and IT direction , including supporting hyperscale customers such as Microsoft and U.S. Department of Defense environments, I bring the people-centered leadership, technical depth, and operational discipline required to lead support teams and maintain the highest standards of uptime, safety, and service quality.
My background matches many needs closely. I have managed multi-discipline data center teams of 15–20+ engineers, leading 24/7 operations across secure, distributed, and global sites. My experience includes full life-cycle support of server, storage, and network hardware; incident and problem management; field change orders; escalation leadership; and capacity planning in high-growth environments. At Microsoft’s data center in San Antonio, I supported more than 5,500 servers, managed spare-parts programs, installed and repaired hardware across multiple regions, and maintained a 100% customer satisfaction score. Earlier in my career, I managed secure data centers for NATO HQ ISAF and U.S. military operations across Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan—driving 99–100% uptime under intense mission-critical conditions through strict operational processes, SOP creation, and structured escalation management.
I am particularly drawn to this role because of emphasizing people leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and driving expansion projects. Throughout my career, I have built high-performance teams by hiring top talent, coaching technicians, and establishing clear expectations and KPI-driven performance models. My work leading expansion efforts—such as server-room buildouts, Wi-Fi and network infrastructure deployments, and full data-center redesigns—aligns directly with requirements for scaling white space, managing block additions, and coordinating new-site readiness with engineering, facilities, and operations partners.
My leadership style is hands-on, service-oriented, and communication-focused. I excel at managing escalations to rapid resolution, coordinating with architects and engineers to solve hardware failures, and ensuring milestones are met with precision. I have deep experience building SOPs, runbooks, asset management systems, and after-action analysis processes that strengthen operational health and reduce recurring issues. Equally important, I understand the relationship between operational excellence and customer trust, especially in a cloud-scale environment.
Relocating back to Texas is a welcomed opportunity for me—San Antonio is my former home of more than 40 years, and I am fully prepared to support your campus and the continued expansion of its IT operation footprint. Your commitment to world-class infrastructure and operational rigor strongly aligns with the standards I have upheld throughout my career.
Thank you for considering my application. I would value the opportunity to discuss how my leadership experience, technical foundation, and commitment to operational excellence can help deliver exceptional performance and reliability across your IT operations. I am ready to contribute immediately and support your teams in achieving their mission.
Sincerely,
Ron W. Dowda
